MASON CITY, IA – Interest rates for student loans might see some changes in the coming months.

Mary Bloomingdale, Director of Financial Aid at North Iowa Area Community College said, “it looks like the rates for all types of loans, undergraduate, graduate student, and plus loans, parent loans, will have a lower rating again, rather than what they were risen to on July 1st.”

While the specifics of the legislation are still being negotiated, educators like Bloomingdale, are happy to see that the government is taking an interest in these rates because it will make a college education more accessible for students.
