MASON CITY, IA – While some of us use the summer time to relax, it’s clear others are using it to kick off and ramp up their political campaigns.
Jim Mowrer held a campaign event Thursday afternoon in Mason City.
He’s running for Iowa’s 4th District Congressional seat against Republican Steve King.
He’s new to the political scene, but says his military service is a good background.
“I’ve been serving our country my entire adult life in one capacity or another. Serving Iowa and my nation, serving in Iowa National Guard, deployed to Iraq, spending some time in Iraq as civilian,” said Mowrer.
And Political Analyst, Dr. Eric Shoars, says we will be seeing more people like Mowrer beginning their political campaign this time of year.
“As summer rolls around you start to see candidates file to announce because of one of our key factors it gives them a great opportunity to press the flesh,” said Dr. Shoars.
Shoars says while it may seem early, this is the time we can expect politicians to be out and about, launching their campaigns.
