Public employee union re-elects Homan as president

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Iowa’s largest public employee union has re-elected Danny Homan as its president.

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees says in a news release that Homan was re-elected Friday to lead the union’s Iowa Council 61 for a fifth term.

Homan was first elected in 2005.

The union represents about 20,000 state workers, and 40,000 public workers overall.

AFSCME also re-elected Susie Baker as executive vice president and Jerry Jones as secretary-treasurer.
