Residents of N. Iowa town ordered to boil water

FERTILE, Iowa (AP) — Officials in the small northern Iowa city of Fertile have ordered residents to boil water used for cooking or drinking.

The Mason City Globe Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/19dKW8h ) the city of 370 people in Worth County issued the boil advisory after a condenser in the city’s water plant failed Friday.

City Clerk Cindy Peters says state law requires the city to have three clean water tests before it can lift a boil order. Two tests show the water is fine, and a third test is set for Tuesday.
