FLOYD, Iowa (AP) — The trial for a man charged in the killing of 5-year-old Evelyn Miller has been delayed until next year.
Casey Frederiksen’s trial on charges of first-degree murder and first-degree sexual abuse had been set to begin Oct. 28 in Hamilton County District Court in Webster City.
But the Globe Gazette newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/1dSse3U ) the trial has been delayed until May 6, 2014, so lawyers have more time to prepare.
The 34-year-old Frederiksen was arrested last fall and charged in the girl’s death in July 2005.
Frederiksen was the live-in boyfriend of the girl’s mother.
The trail was moved from Floyd County due to publicity about the case.
He’s being held at the Bremer County Jail.
