Trial delayed for suspect in Evelyn Miller case

FLOYD, Iowa (AP) — The trial for a man charged in the killing of 5-year-old Evelyn Miller has been delayed until next year.

Casey Frederiksen’s trial on charges of first-degree murder and first-degree sexual abuse had been set to begin Oct. 28 in Hamilton County District Court in Webster City.

But the Globe Gazette newspaper reports ( ) the trial has been delayed until May 6, 2014, so lawyers have more time to prepare.

The 34-year-old Frederiksen was arrested last fall and charged in the girl’s death in July 2005.

Frederiksen was the live-in boyfriend of the girl’s mother.

The trail was moved from Floyd County due to publicity about the case.

He’s being held at the Bremer County Jail.
