DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — An Iowa National Guard field technician has been indicted on federal fraud charges that allege he funneled nearly $60,000 into his own account.
The Des Moines Register reports (http://dmreg.co/12LTHz7 ) that David William Palmer is charged with one count of embezzling public money and 15 counts of wire fraud.
The charges were outlined in a federal grand jury indictment unsealed Tuesday in Des Moines.
A phone listing for Palmer couldn’t be located.
Court documents allege Palmer manipulated a U.S. Defense Department computerized pay system to create $59,267 in overpayments, which were then deposited into his personal bank account.
Palmer is set to be arraigned on Aug. 14.
