DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A Des Moines television station is reporting that David Flores, who spent 16 years in prison for the 1996 shooting death of a Des Moines businesswoman, has been arrested.
Television station KCCI reports (http://bit.ly/16mUJDY) that Flores was booked into the Polk County Jail early Saturday morning on suspicion of fourth-degree criminal mischief.
No other details were immediately available.
David Flores served 16 years in prison for the 1996 shooting death of Phillis Davis before his conviction was overturned in 2009, based on additional evidence and testimony that pointed to a gang member who is now dead.
The charges were refiled, and Flores reached a plea deal earlier this month that kept him from being returned to prison.
