The Clear Lake Baseball Team, down to their final out for the second time of this postseason, used a 7th inning rally to beat Chariton 5-4 in a Class 3A quarterfinal.
Brandon Tofte was the hero, clearing the bases with a triple in the bottom of the 7th inning.
The Lions got out to an early lead, with a Rowdy Yates RBI ground out in the second inning. But Chariton scored the next four runs, and Clear Lake trailed 4-1 heading to the bottom of the 7th.
Gavin Sheakley started the Lions rally with an RBI single into left field.
Then it was Tofte’s turn to be the hero with his 3 RBI triple into right field.

The Lions (36-3) will face Harlan (29-7) in a Class 3A Semi-final, Friday at 2:00 in Des Moines.
