MIAMI (AP) — Forecasters say Tropical Storm Gil has formed in the Pacific, far off the southern tip of California.
The National Hurricane Center in Miami says maximum sustained winds on Tuesday evening are at 40 mph (65 kph). The center is about 815 miles (1,312 kilometers) south-southwest of Baja.
There are no coastal warnings or watches.
It’s expected to move farther out to sea to the west-northwest on its current track as it strengthens over the next couple days.
Meanwhile, what was once Tropical Storm Flossie’s Hawaiian adventure was short, scattered and more powerful than many believed it would be.
Forecasters say the tropical depression is expected to exit Hawaii on Tuesday as a weakened version of the storm that prompted school and court closures and an emergency declaration the governor.
