ALBERT LEA, MN — Folks at the Freeborn County Fair are kicking the butt when it comes to smoking.
Today marked the first of two smoke-free days that will occur at the fair this week.
It helps people enjoy the fair without the smell of smoke.
Smoking is allowed at designated areas on the grounds.
Fair leaders tell us they see it as a way to create an environment everyone can enjoy.
“I think it encourages people to come,” Fair Manager Norm Fredin said. “A lot of people don’t and can’t stand the smoke. We think it will help attendance.”
The fair will have another smoke free day on Saturday.
He says it’s possible in future years; they could have no-smoking on the entire grounds.
