CLEAR LAKE, IA – A Clear Lake non-profit organization will begin construction very soon, but first, they kicked things off with a ribbon cutting ceremony this morning.
Patriots for Pets is an animal shelter that is currently using space from a local kennel.
The plan is to build a shelter with space for more dogs and cats.
the shelter is still trying to raise funds to help turn the building into a reality, but today’s ribbon cutting event is the first step.
“It’s desperately needed in this area there are so many homeless animals and it’s been a passion for a long time as an individual I’ve worked with rescue for years and it just kind of came about natural,” says Debbie Kern who runs the shelter.
The shelter has only been operating since April, but they just finalized their 75th adoption over the weekend.
