Iowa sales tax holiday hopes to draw Neb shoppers

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (AP) — Retailers in Iowa cities along the Missouri River are hoping the state’s sales tax holiday will bring shoppers from neighboring Nebraska.

The Council Bluffs Nonpareil reports (http://bit.ly/15fp1Mn) that the holiday begins Friday and ends at midnight Saturday.

There will be no sales tax collected on clothing or footwear priced under $100.

The event has been held in Iowa every year since 2000 and is timed to coincide with the back-to-school shopping season.
