It’s a night Clear Lake baseball fans will never forget. With a 6-2 victory over Davenport Assumption, the Lions captured their first state title in school history.
But it didn’t come easy, at least at first. Assumption scored a run in the game’s first inning and made it 2-0 in the third.
However, the Lions came awake with a roar in the fourth inning, putting up a five spot on the Knights and never looking back.
Senior Jerry Kockler picks up the win on the mound, throwing a complete game, striking out six and walking just one batter. Kockler finishes the season with a 12-1 record.
*We hope to have highlights and reaction up after the 10 p.m. show, but we’ve been experiencing major technical difficulties and might not be able to. We promise as soon as the problem’s fixed…we will post the video.*
