Sentencing set for Thursday in Iowa theater death

OTTUMWA, Iowa (AP) — A 26-year-old man convicted of robbing and killing the manager of an adult theater in Ottumwa will be sentenced next week.

The Ottumwa Courier reports (http://bit.ly/11D5kv5) that Bruce Darnell Pollard Jr. will be sentenced Thursday morning after being convicted last month of first-degree murder and first-degree robbery in the March 2012 killing of Kenneth McDaniel.

In Iowa, first-degree murder requires a sentence of life in prison.

Pollard acknowledged killing the 70-year-old Kenneth McDaniel, hitting him in the head with a pry bar and choking him. He then stole cash and pornographic material.
