MASON CITY, IA – With school only a matter of weeks away, one north Iowa area bank is looking to help make school supplies one less concern for parents.
Those with First Citizen’s Bank in Mason City along with the giving your best partners are sponsoring a school supply drive for families struggling to afford them.
The drive helps to collect notebooks, writing utensils and other multi-grade friendly materials from throughout the community for the upcoming school year.
One bank representative tells us it’s a great opportunity for the community to help those less fortunate.
“The school supply drive is just a great way for us to work with the community to give back to the community and help the community help kids in our area to get what they need to start school on the right path,” said Wendy Rish, Private Banking Officer with First Citizen’s Bank.
Rish adds that it’s not only the parents getting a break this fall. Her hopes are that children will at least feel more ready once they make it to their classrooms.
“I think it’s a great program. The kids when they start school, I think every kid is a bit nervous even if they’re familiar with the school, it’s still something new. They’re in a different class, so far them to have the same thing that they’re friends home; have everything that they need to start on the right foot, I think that’s beneficial to them,” said Rish.
Anyone is welcome to drop off school supplies and for more information on how to become eligible for the supplies, visit any First Citizen’s branch site.
