Brainerd police kill dog, arrest combative man

BRAINERD, Minn. (AP) — Police called to a disturbance at a residence in Brainerd shot and killed a dog and arrested a man for assault, disorderly conduct and obstruction.

Authorities say the man became combative and fought with officers before he was arrested. Police say two aggressive dogs came out of the home and an officer was forced to shoot one of them to stop it from attacking police Tuesday night.

The Brainerd Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1cfnFoH ) says the dog, a large boxer-pit bull mix, died at the scene.
