AUSTIN, MN - The Mower County Fair is joining the Salvation Army in hopes of bringing food donations to those in need.
It’s part of the “Dream Big” campaign, which is partnering with fairs around the world to combat hunger.
Fair organizers say since the fairs work so closely with their neighboring communities, this is an opportunity to give back to that same community.
“I think county fairs of course are a grassroots, very agricultural but very community based and we feel that its important. The community does a ton for us, our sponsors, obviously fair-goers and we want to give back to them and help people that might need a little bit of a hand up in this world,” said John Mueller, Fair Board Director.
Donations are being accepted until 8 pm tonight in front of the new grandstand at the fairgrounds.
Fair-goers are asked to bring two or three non-perishable food items.
