MASON CITY, IOWA – A “Gleaning Group” has been created in Mason City, to bring leftover produce to food shelters like Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank and the Community Kitchen.
Pat Guetzko, an organizer of the group, says it’s a program she feels is needed.
“We are living here in the middle of America’s break basket and yet we have hungry people here in our community and in any community there are those that are in need and we would just like to be a part of distributing some produce to help them out,” said Guetzko.
Right now the group is looking for volunteers and produce farmers to connect with.
For more information on the group contact Pat Guetzko at 641-423-0110.
