Trial set for man charged in toddler’s death

MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) — The trial for a man charged in the 1994 killing of a toddler who disappeared from his bed in Mason City has been set for this fall.

The Globe Gazette reports ( ) 37-year-old Michael Cisneros is scheduled to go on trial on first-degree murder charges on Oct. 22.

Cisneros, formerly of Mason City, is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail.

Cisneros is accused of killing 20-month-old John Joseph Snyder Jr. His father reported him missing on July 20, 1994. The little boy’s body was found a day later, snagged on a tree in nearby Willow Creek.

Authorities say they’ve matched Cisneros’ DNA to a sample taken from the toddler’s pajama bottoms.
