COLFAX, Iowa (AP) — A truck driver has died in an early morning crash on Interstate 80 that left powdered milk bags littering the median.
KCCI-TV reports (http://bit.ly/13Uk6ep ) the crash happened about 5 a.m. Friday in the eastbound lanes near Colfax, about 20 miles east of Des Moines.
The Iowa State Patrol says the driver, whose name hasn’t been released, may have fallen asleep.
Trooper Eric Van Zee says the truck and trailer went over a cable barrier and the cab then hit an overpass support. That caused the cab to separate from the truck and for part of the trailer to break apart.
The truck was carrying powdered milk, and bags tumbled out onto the media.
