Marion ‘Good Samaritan’ turns out to be suspect

MARION, Iowa (AP) — Police have arrested a man who played the part of Good Samaritan in reporting to police two recent break-ins in Marion.

Cedar Rapids television station KCRG reports ( that police found it suspicious that the same man was at the scene of two break-ins.

Police say the 40-year-old man reported a July 31 break-in at a Marion barber shop. A day later, the man flagged down a Marion police officer to report a broken door at another business.

Suspicious of the man’s proximity to the two burglaries, police got a warrant for his house. Their suspicion paid off: police say they found stolen property from both businesses inside the man’s home.

The man has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of burglary.
