Child, 2 others die in E. Iowa 2-vehicle crash

KEYSTONE, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say a 3-year-old child and two others died when a truck collided with their car in eastern Iowa.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports ( ) the crash happened Saturday night near the Benton County community of Keystone.

The sheriff’s office says a GMC truck driven by 39-year-old Raul Salazar Jr., of Bushland, Texas, didn’t stop at a stop sign and collided with the car.

The car’s three occupants, aged 3, 22 and 24, were killed. Their names weren’t released.

Salazar was charged with three counts of homicide by vehicle, preventing apprehension and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. A truck passenger, 29-year-old Rafael Moreno, of San Fernando, Calif., was charged with preventing apprehension.

Both were held at the Benton County Jail.

Truck passenger Gabriel Hernandez was being treated at a hospital.
