IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — A major street in downtown Iowa City that was affected by a water main break will remain closed for several more days.
City officials say they hope to have the closed portion of Washington Street open by Friday. Public Works Director Rick Fosse says necessary energy repairs are preventing the street from opening sooner.
Cedar Rapids television station KCRG reports (http://bit.ly/18sNFaB ) MidAmerican Energy is also fixing underground damage.
The 12-inch water main that broke Friday forced city officials to pump water out of several businesses and basements. Officials are still investigating what caused the break.
