Charges filed in series of thefts

CLEAR LAKE, Iowa – Charges are being filed against a man in a series of high-value thefts in the Clear Lake area.

Michael Eichmann, 42, was already in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on other charges when new charges if First Degree Theft and Ongoing Criminal Conduct were filed.  According to Clear Lake police, an investigation led to a fishing boat, a pontoon boat trailer, three jet skis, two jet ski trailers, an ATV, a motorcycle, an air compressor, and a portable generator in Eichmann’s possession.  The items had all been reported stolen from the Clear Lake area between fall 2012 and April 2013.

The stolen property is worth more than $10,000.  First Degree Theft is a Class C felony and Ongoing Criminal Conduct is a Class B felony.  Jail records show Eichmann has been incarcerated since May 3 on charges of Burglary in Worth County, as well as charges of Theft By Misappropriation, Interference with Official Acts While in Possession of a Firearm, and Violation of a No Contact Order in Cerro Gordo County.
