AUSTIN, MN — Austin Firefighters are helping battle something other than fires starting today.
They and other departments are taking part in the “Fill the Boot” campaign.
The program raises money for the muscular dystrophy association.
This is the department’s fifth year taking part in the event.
“The money goes to a great cause,” Austin Fire Department Engineer Jim Halsey said. “You know it enables the kids to go to camp and also for research. So, it’s a really good cause and we really enjoy doing it.”
The department will be out from three to seven each night through Friday.
