MASON CITY, IA – Iowa Secretary of State Matt Schultz is stopping by Mason City today to talk about some important issues in the state.

One of the topics up for discussion is the Rock Iowa program.

It’s a project that is focusing in on engaging high schoolers in the democratic process and encouraging them to vote come election time.

Schultz says a surprising number of young people opt out of voting, but they need to realize they can make a difference.

Schultz said, “Every vote counts and really it’s what makes America unique,it’s what make Iowa unique. Being able to choose our leaders and really that’s the message I would want to bring to our young people. Every vote counts.”
