WEST UNION, Iowa (AP) — An 18-year-old northwest Iowa man has been charged with arson and reckless use of fire after investigators say they tied him to grass, brush, and trash can fires.
The Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier reports (http://bit.ly/14kqgVz ) Cody Cooley, of Fayette, was arrested by the Fayette County Sheriff on Thursday and charged with two counts of second-degree arson and five counts of reckless use of fire.
Sheriff Marty Fisher says a year-long investigation into fires in West Union, St. Lucas, Clermont and Wadena led to the arrest.
Cooley is in the Fayette County Jail on $25,000, cash bond.
He’s also charged with arson in Delaware County.
Investigations into several unsolved arson cases in the West Union area continue.
Court records did not yet reflect whether an attorney has been appointed.
