Mason City bank teller pleads guilty in federal court

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – A Mason City woman accused of embezzling nearly $70,000 from a bank has pleaded guilty.

53-year-old Margaret (Peggy) Sheese was convicted of one count of embezzlement by a bank employee.

As part of a plea agreement, Sheese admits that she stole nearly $70,000 between 2011 and earlier this year. She admitted making 29 secret withdrawals from accounts belonging to a particular bank customer.

Her sentencing will be later.
