Iowa skydiver dies after being pulled from plane

BROOKLYN, Iowa (AP) — An Iowa skydiver has died in an accident near Brooklyn, about 60 miles east of Des Moines.

Officials say the skydiver was in a plane that took off around 5:30 p.m. Friday when his parachute accidentally deployed, pulling him from the plane. The man’s body was found in a field near Brooklyn.

Officials have not released the man’s name, but say he is from Brooklyn.

The Des Moines Register reports (http://dmreg.co/14RO616) that the Federal Aviation Administration, Iowa State Patrol and Poweshiek County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.
