MASON CITY, IA – Hundreds of people are gathering in Mason City today to celebrate the community.

The third annual Rock the Block event is put on by Rhythm Church.

The purpose is to get the community together to celebrate families and have an all around good time.

The pastor of the church says it’s important for people to focus on the good in their neighborhoods.

“Sometimes it’s easy to look at the negatives of a community of a place and we want to really build on the positives and just say there’s so much about Mason City and north Iowa that’s awesome and we live in a great community,” says Pastor Nathan Gann.

Last year the event drew in about 1200 people and although they weren’t exactly sure the numbers for this year Pastor Gann says he’s sure they exceeded that number.
