Cresco City Council approves plan that will let organization stay in former City Hall

CRESCO, IA – A plan to let a non profit organization stay in their historic building is moving forward in north Iowa.  The Cresco City Council is voting 3-2 to gift the building that the County Store is currently in, to the county.  The plan is for the Howard County Board of Supervisors to then pass the building on to the County Store as a public entity.  The County Store is a non-profit organization that works to employee local residents, and sell items, such as clothing, at a discounted price.  They were worried the current building they are in, the old city hall, would end up on the auction block.  A petition had been circulating to let the non profit stay in the building, and we’re told it was a full house at the Monday night meeting.  The Board of Supervisors must now approve the council’s plan
