Screams, cries on 911 calls from deadly limo fire

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (AP) — Newly released recordings of 911 calls from a deadly Northern California limousine fire include a woman’s voice shouting “Oh my God! Oh my God!,” a man’s voice shouting “Get out! Get out!,” and cries and screams from callers and passengers.

The California Highway Patrol released the recordings Monday from the May 4 fire that ignited on the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge near San Francisco. Five nurses were killed and five other people survived.

The 911 calls are from passing motorists — one of whom can be heard crying on his call — and limo passengers, who can be heard screaming in the background on some recordings.

In one call a rescuer can be heard saying the limo is fully engulfed, but the doors are locked and he can’t get inside.
