DIXON, Iowa (AP) — Residents of Dixon in eastern Iowa will be seeing a new name atop their water bills next month.
Iowa American Water Co. says it’s bought the town water system of Dixon, which sits about 15 miles northwest of Davenport. With the purchase, Iowa American acquires 104 new customers for the $15,000 purchase price.
The town had been struggling with high levels of nitrates in its water. In a referendum, the town’s residents approved selling the system.
Iowa American says another well will be drilled and a pumping station added to improve water pressure.
The new Iowa American Water Co. bills should start showing up at Dixon households by the end of September.
