VENTURA, IA – Going back to school means lots of new things but for students at one school this year, things will really look different.

The Ventura School Board just finished renovating the elementary school with new floors, ceilings, lights, cabinets and lockers.

One of the most important additions in this project was a new security system that includes parking lot monitors and new system that will only allow people to be buzzed in.

With their school year getting underway on august 20th the additions will be a good way to get everyone excited about heading back to school.

Debra Steenhard, Principal of Ventura schools said, “lots of our students have parents who were Ventura students at one time and so there hasn’t been a renovation since their parents were here so this is the first time we’ve really had a face lift and the kids are excited to see their new classrooms.”

The classrooms are one thing but Steenhard is also excited about the new front office which will help faculty keep track of who is coming and going from in the building.
