Woman rescued after falling from Minn. bluff

RED WING, Minn. (AP) — Authorities have rescued a 26-year-old woman who fell off a bluff in Red Wing.

The Red Wing Fire Department got the call just after 9:45 a.m. Tuesday that the woman had fallen from the north side of Barn Bluff.

Crews were on the scene in 2 ½ minutes. In about 15 minutes, others came with ropes and other rescue equipment. Two fire department paramedics descended the slope and began to care for the woman.

A Minnesota State Patrol helicopter was sent to help get the woman to Mayo Clinic Health Systems Red Wing. The Post-Bulletin of Rochester (http://bit.ly/17FO7Bi ) reports she was later airlifted in stable condition to Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Red Wing Fire Capt. Jim Eppen says the fire department regularly trains for such rescues.
