MASON CITY, Iowa – Tammi Duckert lives next door knows the residents in the home where a stabbing incident happened last night.
Mason City Police were called to a report of a stabbing that happened just before 11:00 on Tuesday night on 10th St. NW in Mason City.
Duckert said, “I guess the part that bothered me the most was when the cop comes and knocks on your door and your 5 year old kid is like what’s going on?”
It was a hectic night for Duckert and her family and law enforcement had quite a night as well.
Mason City Police Investigator said “they received a call that a subject had broken into a house, had stabbed another subject and then fled the scene.”
41 year old Frederick Joseph Olsen has been arrested and is being charged with attempted murder and burglary
When Duckert spoke with authorities this morning, one of her main concerns was if the resident of the house was okay and police assured her that she was.
“She’s nice enough,” Duckert said. “Her nephew comes over and plays with my son.”
Neighbors like Tammi also wonder if this all had anything to do with some recent issues happening at the home earlier in the week
“There was fighting and arguing in the middle of the night a couple nights ago and one other time, they had to call cause there was a guy wandering around with a gun.”
At this time we do know that the victim was a male and he was taken to Mercy Medical Center North Iowa.
He is in stable condition.
Police are still investigating the situation and KIMT News 3 will be updating this story as more information is released.
