CLEAR LAKE – IA – This week Annie Szatkowski is showing us how exercising with others can help push you to the next level in your workout.
Welcome to group cardio here’s our trainer, Jenna and my 7 other workout buddies.
We all start on the treadmill alternating between running and walking. Jenna gives us instructions and time cues and we just follow along.
Next it’s into the classroom for todays “Spartacus Workout.”
Lisa Bieber has been coming to these 8 AM Monday, Wednesday, Friday classes for 10 years. Clearly she gets a kick out of breaking a sweat with friends.
She said, “It’s a real good motivator for me to get up and get out of bed and get moving.”
Lisa says having others around you who are also committed to fitness helps her make sure she logs her hours in the gym.
“I know there’s accountability and if I don’t show up, I know I’ll be getting a phone call.”
It’s almost like a fitness sorority and after one only round of some push-up rotations, squats, lunges, and mountain climbers, we all start to have a little fun and I’m in the club.
For many people, having that fun distracts some of the challenge of the workouts. Also having someone next to doing the same thing can make you want to beat them out on reps, speed or even form.
