Officer involved in a Brooklyn Center shooting

BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. (AP) — Authorities say a police officer has shot and killed a man during a traffic stop in Brooklyn Center.

Hennepin County Sheriff’s Maj. Kip Carver tells KARE-TV (http://kare11.tv/18OJBlg ) that a blue van was pulled over on an interstate ramp about 2:20 a.m. Friday. At some point, a struggle ensued and the officer pulled his weapon and shot the man.

Authorities haven’t provided details on the nature of the traffic stop. The incident shut down a busy artery during the morning commute.

Another shooting in the same area happened Thursday. A man was shot and died outside a hotel in Brooklyn Center.
