AUSTIN, Minn. — Members of the Minnesota GOP were traveling themselves today as they stopped in our area.

The Mower County GOP held their third annual “Lincoln-Reagan” picnic this evening.

Republican State Representatives Kurt Zellers, Jim Abeler and Mike Benson were some of those in attendance.

Despite the Democrats having complete control, republican lawmakers tell us they think the GOP’s future is bright on the state and national level.

“If you look at what happened this last session with the amount of overreach between the Governor and the Democrats, I think people are going to see the results of that are a need to make sure there is balance and that this next election cycle, Republicans will take the house and take the Governor’s seat back again,” Republican State Representative Mike Benson of Rochester said.

He adds events, like today’s, are important for candidates to get out and talk about the issues and answer questions they may have.
