Waterloo neighbors try to stop dog attack

WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — Residents of a Waterloo neighborhood say they tried multiple times to stop three dogs from attacking a woman and young boy.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier says (http://bit.ly/16L9fDP ) the Tuesday attack injured a woman who was on a morning walk and a 14-year-old boy headed to school.

Witnesses say the dogs first chased the boy, who then escaped after someone used a drain pipe to hit the dogs. The woman was attacked a short time later.

Neighbors tried stopping the dogs’ attack on the woman by shooting a BB gun and honking a car horn. Police then shot one of the dogs and it later died. The other two dogs were captured.

The woman and boy were taken to a hospital. Their names and conditions are not available.
