ALBERT LEA, Minn. — A 94-year-old Albert Lea woman is in the hospital after a fire at her home.
Crews were called to 410 Bel Aire Dr. just after 5 p.m. Wednesday with reports of smoke.
The son-in-law tells us he came to check on her when he saw the smoke.
The woman was said to be unconscious with a pulse when she was transported to the Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea.
“We got our crew ready, they went in, did an initial search, found the person unconscious and was able to bring the person out and hand her to gold cross,” said Capt. Lee DeVries of the Albert Lea Fire Department.
He says it is very important to be checking on family members like this in this heat.
