Costly possible fuel tampering in St. Cloud

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — Police say contaminated fuel at two gas stations in the St. Cloud area this month has caused thousands of dollars in damage to vehicles.

They are investigating possible tampering with the fuel at First Fuel Bank locations in St. Cloud and Waite Park.

First Fuel Banks CEO Jim Feneis (FEN’-ice) tells the St. Cloud Times (http://on.sctimes.com/17ia4Zb ) that the station notified customers of a possible problem as soon as it was detected. He believes 59 customers used the contaminated fuel.

Feneis says the company has been fixing damaged vehicles.

First Fuel had to pump out hundreds of thousands of gallons of diesel and vacuum its lines and tanks to clear the bad fuel.
