ALBERT LEA, Minn. — While the heat caused concern for many, it didn’t seem to bother law enforcement in Albert Lea.
The Albert Lea Police Department tells us they didn’t receive many heat related calls during this hot stretch, in which saw us hit 90 degrees or more for six straight days.
Before this, we didn’t see any temperatures in the 90’s since July 22nd.
Leaders with the Albert Lea Police Department tell us it’s a result of folks being better prepared when the heat hits.
“We didn’t receive a lot of phone calls,” Lt. J.D. Carlson of the Albert Lea Police Department said. “I think with all the media attention to it, people stayed inside their houses, drank water, and utilized their air conditioners for those that could.”
He said the most calls they received were from worried citizens about pets in the heat.
We should be seeing some relief this holiday weekend, as temperatures will gradually get better.
