Iowa school district finds gun after football game

DUNKERTON, Iowa (AP) — A northeast Iowa school district says it found a gun inside a school bus following a football game over the weekend.

Dunkerton Community School District Superintendent Jim Stanton says administrators found the weapon Friday night. He says the weapon has been linked to a student.

Stanton says authorities are looking for the student, who is suspended pending the outcome of an expulsion hearing. KWWL reports (http://bit.ly/13ap0Hq ) the student is a football player. Stanton says he could not comment on that report.

The school district is now under a secure situation. It means only two doors are accessible, and they require that a visitor be buzzed in.

Stanton says there will be an increased presence from the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office at a football game scheduled for Tuesday.
