DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The chairman and CEO of Des Moines-based Principal Financial Group will receive the top award from one of the retirement savings industry’s leading nonprofit research organizations.
Larry Zimpleman will receive the Lillywhite Award from the Employee Benefit Research Institute on Oct. 29 at an industry conference in San Francisco.
The award is named for Ray Lillywhite, a pioneer in the pension field. Established in 1992, the award acknowledges the contributions of individuals who have had distinguished careers in the investment management and employee benefits fields and whose service enhances Americans’ economic security.
Zimpleman, who began working at Principal in 1971 as an intern, became chairman in 2009. He will be recognized for his longstanding advocacy of retirement savings and financial literacy.
