Waterloo officer treated after pit bull attack

WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — A Waterloo police officer has been treated at a hospital following a pit bull attack.

Police say officers responded to a report Tuesday morning in Waterloo of a loose pit bull dragging a chain. One of the officers was then bitten by the dog on the left forearm.

Another officer used a Taser on the pit bull. An animal control officer was then able to take the dog in.

The injured officer was taken to a local hospital and then released.

Animal control located the dog’s owner. It will follow up on the incident.
