MASON CITY, Iowa – Starting Tuesday, county clerk of court offices statewide are back open regular hours.
Because of budget cuts, county court clerks’ hours were reduced on Tuesdays and Thursdays in 2009. The offices would close to the public at 2:30 p.m.
“I think it was very frustrating for individuals who come to the counter to make payments when they were closed. Those who want to make a payment on something or file something and the office was not open, they’d have to come back the following day,” says District Court Administrator Scott Hand. “So it’s nice to be able to get back to full public hours.”
Now, court clerks will be open to the public from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, as they were before the budget cuts four years ago.
