Several businesses and organizations are mobilizing throughout September to collect food for House of Hope.
September is Hunger Action Month, when Feeding America urges people nationwide to take action in their communities.
This month, the City of Stuart is collecting food at City Hall and the Stuart Police Department.
The Martin County Library System is holding Food for Fines, Sept. 9-14. If patrons return their overdue items along with a nonperishable food item, they can have their fines forgiven.
At Gertrude Walden Child Care Center, the children are decorating food-collection boxes and bringing in nonperishable food on Sept. 12-13.
St. Joseph Catholic Church will collect food during services on Sept. 28-29.
