Pickup belonging to man sought in killing found

GRANITE FALLS, Minn. (AP) — Investigators have found the pickup believed to be driven by a man sought for questioning in the fatal shooting of a Granite Falls woman.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says the 1996 GMC Sierra was found about five miles north of Belview.

Investigators are still looking for the driver and say he may be armed.

Officials say the man is the victim’s ex-boyfriend.

Granite Falls Mayor Dave Smiglewski says 26-year-old Kara Monson was killed and her current boyfriend critically injured when someone broke into Monson’s home early Monday and shot them. Smiglewski tells the Star Tribune (http://bit.ly/1dIOgvc ) the shooting has shaken members of the community of about 2,900.

The condition of the 28-year-old boyfriend — identified as Christopher Panitzke of Redwood Falls — at HCMC has not been released.
