Retrial set for Iowa man charged in wife’s death

OTTUMWA, Iowa (AP) — A retrial has been scheduled for a southeast Iowa man accused of killing his pregnant wife.

The Ottumwa Courier reports ( ) Seth Techel’s trial has been set for Oct. 28 in Mount Pleasant.

Techel is charged with murder and nonconsensual termination of a human pregnancy in connection with the May 2012 death of his wife, Lisa Techel, and their unborn child.

In March, a judge declared a mistrial after an Ottumwa jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict. A second trial was scheduled to begin in August, but it was delayed indefinitely due to a medical problem.
